How these estimates are calculated

Every figure on this page starts from the international spot price for gold or silver, converted to your chosen currency at the live exchange rate. For coins we multiply the actual fine metal content — not the face weight — by that spot price, then apply the payout percentage we use in store. Junk silver such as pre-1968 Canadian and pre-1965 US dimes, quarters and half dollars is calculated at its true 80% or 90% silver content, while one-ounce bullion coins are treated as a full troy ounce of fine metal.

Estimates are indicative rather than binding: spot moves throughout the trading day, and heavily worn, damaged or unverifiable pieces may weigh or test differently in person. Bring the numbers with you and we will confirm them on a calibrated scale before making a firm written offer.
